Making Muffins

For Father's Day the students decided they wanted to make muffins.  We had a vote to decide what type of muffins to make.  We made blueberry muffins and we made enough to share with our families too.  We payed for our ingredients using a Metro grant that all Early Years classes received this year.  Thank you Metro!

Here are our baking stations.
First we had to wash our hands with soap to make sure we didn't spread any germs.  We talked about not touching our mouths, faces or anything other than the baking equipment.
 We started with butter,

 Then sugar,

 1 Egg,

 Flour,

 Next Baking Powder

We mixed it all up and we got a little messy,
Then we checked the blueberries for stems and to make sure they weren't squishy as we added them to the batter,

We put the muffin cups in the muffin tins,

And finally we put the batter in the cups and cooked them in the oven (with an adult doing the hot stuff since we know the oven isn't safe.

 All DONE!
Here is the final product.  We enjoyed them with Mrs. Archer's friends to thank them for sharing since we used their oven, and cooking materials (bowls, measuring cups, etc. ) and we were in and out of their room while we made our muffins.

Since everyone liked them so much we decided to share them in the office.

We enjoyed baking and many of our friends chose to write about this in their journals!

We hope that everyone in your home enjoys them as much as we did.  Happy Father's Day!
